| Thank you |
[14 Nov 2008|07:50am] |
Our wedding was beautiful, thank you to everyone who helped in one way or another to make it a stunning success. For everyone who is wondering, pictures will be out in another week when we get the dvd with all the compiled pictures from Brian. I've seen them and I must say they are fabulous, so excited for developing them! For now though, here is a sneak preview.

[17 Jul 2008|02:36pm] |
In my previous entry I forgot to add the pictures for wedding invites and Save The Date cards. I did most of the designing on photoshop and thought it would only be appropriate if the overall theme of our wedding paperie is Fall. I incorporated a rich array of seasonal colors with pretty leaves and pink roses. After looking at the first printed sheets, sharp printed texts with warm colors on the textured cream paper from Claire Fontaine I must say that I am more than pleased with the results! Initially there was the risk that printing on the textured paper may cause blotching, but after the second test print my fears dissipated in a mire of stationary excitement. Oh I wish Patrick was here to check out everything I've done, from the stationary to the wedding supplies. But in spite of our distance, he calls me regularly and we talk so that he too, is in the decision making process. Yup, suffice to say I can't wait for Patrick to get back, 55 days and counting!! Meanwhile, I am booking my flight back to Portland for the 30th of August. Singapore, with its unbearable humidity and sombre landscape has rendered within me a joyless desire to leave.

My apologies for the absence of updates this month, school has taken its toll on both me and my creativity. Watching tragic videos about poverty and globalization twice a week for an hour each session has despaired the writing stimulus out of me. Otherwise, I have been maintaining my usual cheerful disposition in spite of red tape bureaucracy woes and the frenetic paper chase of graduation.
So amidst one of our usual gloomy class videos on Suharto's holocaust in Indonesia, I bring to you my first blog offer of the month. So far I've sent in the Save The Date cards for printing -- and received as well as mailed them out 2 weeks ago to Patty so that she can start distributing them. Yesterday I delivered the main wedding invitation cards and the RSVPs out to my printing company, and they are ready for collection today. I shall mail them out within the next week or two. My wedding dress has been purchased and I will do my first fitting in September when I get to Portland, I am excited! Firstly though, here are my wedding shoes from Enzo Angiolini, complete with the satin sparkle that twinkles in every bride's eyes.

I am officially won over ( no pun intended! ) by this online retail mogul. One of the many reasons why I'll make a good wife for Patrick, because I know a good bargain when I see one. That is most definitely why I'm with Patrick :) See below to know what I'm talking about!

| For my girls... |
[16 Jun 2008|03:38pm] |
And of course, we can't forget my bridesmaids! Sometimes I feel like I possibly have too large an entourage, but everyone of them means so much to me that I can't possibly not ask any of them to be my bridal party. I am really lucky to have these beauties standing by my side while I get married :)) I'll start off by introducing each one of them :
My maid of honor is Crystal who is also my unofficial wedding planner, in charge of the overall dresses for all the girls. Apart from having to deal with the stress of work, she is amazingly capable of also getting all the dresses done by a local seamstress in Shanghai where she's interning for an engineering firm. We're both from the University Scholars Program and hang out with the same group of friends. Needless to say we're pretty close.
Then there is my sister, Hilary who will be flying over with the rest of the family to Portland all the way from Singapore. 17 hour flight, my dears. She will also be missing 1 week of school, and I really appreciate her taking time off to come for my wedding. And having to explain to her teachers, at that. Love you!
There is of course, my 2 gorgeous future sisters in law -- Diana and Sarah. I can't even express just how thankful I am for Sarah's help in planning for the wedding, besides sending me helpful check lists and updating me on what's going on back in Portland thru weekly emails,s he has also given me her unmitigated support throughout my most trying time of April and May during the exam period and the harangue of planning for a wedding 10,000 miles away. Diana has also be equally supportive, she has been dealing with most of the monetary exchange shuttering to and fro between banks. Clearly without her, I wouldn't be able to purchase any of the pretty supplies ( refer to the bottom post ) or pay for my bridesmaid dresses.
Sarah Schtakleff and I met in the fall of 2007, at my school while she was doing a student exchange program here at the National University of Singapore from the University of North Carolina -- Chapel Hill where she does college at. We were in the same class -- European political philosophy, and I think we randomly met because we were sitting next to each other and started talking. LOL. Well chance has a way of blossoming into friendship, and after she left for NC, we maintained contact through a series of letters exchanged. Good ol' snail mail! I love getting mail from her because she writes a lot and I love love love reading long mail, nothing beats the thrill of getting something in my mailbox!
When Patrick and I move to Japan next year, I will really miss Maryland. Heck, I always do everytime I'm back in Singapore. Rebecca has been a huge part of my time in Maryland, everytime I go back for the summer and christmas. I don't remember how we met, probably through Dave who is her boyfriend and a really good friend of Patrick since their days of school in San Angelo. We usually hang out at the Anne Arundel mills mall to.. guess what, shop of course! She gives great shopping advice, and also keeps me company during the months of being away from Patrick and her, away from Dave through lovely long myspace messages :))
Last and definitely -not- the least is Caitlyn. Her and I met in sunday school way back when I was in middle school, at the International Baptist Church in Singapore. We've always been like sisters, and I remember spending languid happy afternoons at her place on myspace haha and talking about random people as well as dining with her folks. In earlier boy crazy days, we also spent time together checking out cuties lol! I love and miss her dearly especially after she moved back to Massachusetts earlier this year. I can't wait to see you again babe this october :)
Wow I sound like I just gave my oscar winning speech. Well I shan't keep you any longer, here is what my girls will be wearing:

| The Bridal Gown |
[16 Jun 2008|03:26pm] |
After watching Sex and the City, I am convinced that no wedding can continue without an appropriate wedding dress. Imagine the shock of everyone's faces if they see the bride dressed up in.. jeans? Runaway bride maybe but that's definitely not me :) Here's presenting my very beautiful wedding gown chosen by the hubby and yours truly!

| Success!! |
[16 Jun 2008|12:35am] |
After slaving at the mercy of livejournal's very frustrating CSS interface, and after hours poring over the tedium of photoshop I am finally able to rest easy tonight. I am absolutely pleased with the the blog template, and it made me laugh when I first saw it. Don't worry, hubby you know you're not gonna be whipped at all ;)
So I am really feeling tres accomplished tonight, before I worked on the blog I purchased my wedding supplies. I first saw these on ebay from this one seller that had atrociously expensive shipping rates and a bad feedback-- think 98.4 %. Even though I really liked this particular design, I didn't trust her enough to spend 130 bucks at her store especially after reading the different comments written on her feedback profile. Fortunately, my patience paid off and while randomly surfing wedding blogs, I chanced upon www.weddingmountain.com. Its the best place to shop for wedding supplies, favors and anything you need on your special day.I got everything you see below for 100 USD with a happy shipping price of 9 dollars. I am a happy shopper indeed, and nothing beats the feeling of sussing out the best deals in town.. or online :)
Anyway I will be divulging more details about Patrick and myself a little later, while at the same time also update everyone on wedding updates. This will definitely be my portal to the world wedding-wise. More pictures coming up later. Meanwhile, click on the link below to see what I was ranting about earlier!
